A co-branded promotion with Square that gained 1500 new small business leads.

01. This project was a ton of fun top to bottom—the concept and the creative go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Small businesses know Square as a fantastic and established point-of-purchase solution. We wanted to make sure they also knew about Square’s effortless integration with Xero’s cloud-based accounting software.

02. Brainstorming with a producer, copywriter, marketing people, and designers, we came up with the Business Makeover concept, going from an antique cash register to a Square-equipped iPad. Square’s iPad station turns around, so a transformation à la Wonder Woman seemed perfect. Stop motion animation offered a distinct way to make the motion pop, so we went with it. It was a fun challenge working on something in a way no one had before.

03. Then leadership changed their mind: no gradients. We pivoted. It’s just part of the job and I am used to it. We needed a scalable branding element so we went with a geometric pattern. They’re cubes symbolizing learning as the building blocks of one’s career and life.
